At Forge Athletics Group, everything starts with the athlete, not just as a player, but as a kid navigating pressure, expectations, and big emotions at a young age. We know how confusing and challenging those years can be, because we’ve been in those exact shoes ourselves.
Our goal is to support kids as they grow in confidence, resilience, and love for the game, while helping them handle challenges in a healthy and constructive way. Mentorship at Forge is about meeting athletes where they are, having honest conversations, and providing steady guidance that supports both their development and well-being.
We work closely with families to ensure every athlete feels supported, understood, and encouraged as they move forward on their own path.
For parents
-
Mentorship at Forge is not coaching and it is not recruiting pressure. It is structured, age-appropriate guidance focused on helping young athletes build the habits, mindset, and perspective that support long-term growth — in sport and in life.
For younger athletes in particular, sessions are designed to be:
Structured and engaging
Adapted to personality (shy, talkative, confident, or unsure)
Built around conversation, reflection, and simple exercises
We focus on helping athletes:
Develop positive attitudes during setbacks (losses, not making a team, reduced playing time)
Learn how to handle pressure — from competition, expectations, and outside voices
Build a growth mindset and understand that improvement is always possible
Set small, achievable goals and work toward them consistently
Maintain balance between sport, school, friendships, and personal interests
Learn to enjoy the game and stay connected to why they play
For many families, one of the biggest values is simply having a trusted role model — someone outside the immediate family who understands sport, development, and the emotional ups and downs that come with it.
-
From a parent’s perspective, successful mentorship often shows up in subtle but meaningful ways:
Your child looks forward to sessions
They begin reflecting more on their experiences
They respond to setbacks with more resilience
They start setting goals and talking about progress
They maintain a healthier relationship with their sport
Where appropriate, Forge can also provide simple feedback or reflections for parents — such as:
Goals your child is working toward
Themes discussed during sessions
General strengths and opportunities we observe over time
Our goal is to support the athlete while keeping parents informed, aligned, and confident in the process.
-
We recognize that younger athletes, especially ages 9–14, may need shorter sessions, clear structure, and time to build trust. Some children open up quickly; others need patience and consistency before they feel comfortable.
Sessions are designed with this in mind and adapt as relationships develop. Mentorship is not rushed, it’s built over time.
-
As athletes get older, Forge also supports families with college advising, helping clarify:
When recruiting actually matters
What levels and environments may be a good fit
Academic considerations and long-term planning
How to approach decisions without unnecessary pressure
Not every athlete needs college advising right away, and we are honest about that. Our role is to help families understand when guidance is valuable and what kind makes sense.
-
We understand that every family and every athlete is different.
Forge offers multiple pricing models, and we are always open to discussing what structure makes sense for your child and your family. Some athletes benefit from short-term mentorship, others from longer, more consistent support.
There is no one-size-fits-all package, and we are happy to talk through options together.
-
We offer a free introductory conversation for parents and athletes to understand your child’s background, goals, and current situation. There is no obligation, just an opportunity to talk through what support might look like and whether Forge is the right fit.
Every athlete’s journey is different. Our role is to help you navigate it with clarity, structure, and perspective.
